May, spring at the very best - this year... Very hot during the first two weeks and then back to mor normal temps.
Finally a decision was made about entry hatches. The criterias where eg.
* No lose hatches stored somewhere else in the boat.
* Burglar-proof
* Watertight
* Nice looking ?
Started with replacing 50 mm iron around the entry with stainless 316L plate. The lower part will store the folded lower hatch so a inset was made.
To the left is the prototype hatches opened. The top is sliding on L-bars witch will be in plexiglas. The lower hatch is folded and lowered down with the frame-thing keeping it into place.
Picture left, below all is closed with the sturdy hinges in place. The gole is to have the hatches made out of stainless plate filled will teak on the inside. The teak will be visible when opned but only stainless when closed. I hope this will give any potential burgler some thoughts and prevents to try breaking in.
Normaly there is some ventilation made in the hatches, we will see. And yes, there will be a sturdy locking mechanism and teakframings on the inside.
