Pandemic seems to calm down.
The Genua 1 and the yankee where brought to North Sails in Gothenburg for maintenance. Both sails got new trim lines, some reinforcements and new UV protection. This time in silver/grey instead of red which matches the boat better. Here cleaning the yankee before.
Back in "Day80" I mocked up a new spray hood and now in the time of fall-ing leaves, I finally made the spray hood in a new German material.
The fabric was quite a challange for my sawing machine - lots of hand turning the machine but it went very well. New windows and now all canvas matches the dark blue line on the hull too.
I even started to make the extension of the spray hood. There is a windows in the "roof" so I can see the sail and bring mor light into cockpit. With the extension out I can just stand in front of the steering wheel. It will give good protection from rain coming from behind.
So, the winter is coming...
This year we put the boat on the hard again.
The guys at Marin Support Wallhamn are very proffessional, they do the cleaning and sets all supports for the boat.
Good Job!
Just leaving the boat at their dock and next day I got a picture from them that it was going on.
All I have to do is go there next day with a ladder...
With the uprated 25 mm tubes for the sprayhood I also reinforced the fastenings with a bit of stainless, here trying it out - 1 screw of wrong sort and no grinding/polishing done :-)
The propeller where painted on one blade last year to see if it made any difference… Nope, I had to scrape the propeller during season and noticed no difference.
Main issue is that I do not have a wetsuit so I wait for the water to get warm and cosy before I do the job...
Expensive Propspeed next perhaps?
So winter job is to bring everything back into clean and ready state for the spring.
Speaking of winter, brought home firewood that my son had got hold on, he's an Arborist. Thank you!
The cherry tree above is not to be firewood - yet. So the Bandsaw got into work!
Freshly cut the Cherry is white but after some hours it reacts with the oxygen (?) and gets orange.
